CPI Service: Expert Commercial Water Heater Repair in San Jose

Recently, our team was called out to a commercial property in San Jose, where the building’s hot water system had unexpectedly failed. Our expert technician quickly responded to investigate the issue and restore service.

The Issue

Upon arrival, our technician accessed the water heater closet and discovered that one of the property’s 100-gallon water heaters was leaking from the bottom. This issue had left the entire building without hot water, a serious problem for any commercial facility. We took photos of the water heater’s information plate to provide to the Homeowners Association (HOA), should they wish to replace it.

The Solution

After assessing the situation, it became clear that the best course of action was to replace both of the property’s 100-gallon water heaters to ensure long-term reliability. Our team promptly swapped out both units and began the installation process. Here’s a breakdown of the work performed:

    • Installed Two New 100-Gallon Water Heaters: Both water heaters were connected, and the inlets and outlets were carefully capped off for a secure fit.

    • Replaced Dielectric Unions: To prevent corrosion and ensure long-lasting connections, we replaced the dielectric unions, using four 1 ½-inch unions in total.

    • Gas and Water Line Connections: Six 1 ½-inch no-stop copper couplings, along with galvanized nipples and caps, were installed for maximum durability.

    • T&P Valves and Seismic Straps: As part of safety and compliance measures, we installed two temperature and pressure (T&P) valves. Additionally, seismic straps were securely fastened and tested to ensure they would withstand any potential movement in the event of an earthquake.

Thorough Testing

Before wrapping up the job, we tested all gas and water lines to ensure everything was functioning perfectly. This included checking for leaks and verifying that the new water heaters were heating water efficiently. The seismic straps were also checked for any movement, ensuring they were tightly secured to the units.

After running all the necessary tests and ensuring that the system was fully operational, our technician confirmed there were no issues. The installation was completed successfully, and the building now has a reliable source of hot water once again.
