Diagnose, repair, maintain: the everyday plumbing work that keeps a home running.

Pressure tests, camera inspections and leak detection pinpoint problems like noisy pipes, low pressure, odors and hidden leaks.

Leaking pipes and fittings, valves, faucets, toilets, drains, water heaters and gas lines repaired with parts from a stocked truck.

Whole-home inspections, water heater flushing, valve exercising, pressure checks and drain care, on your schedule or a service plan.

Signs You Need a Plumber
Small symptoms usually point to a bigger cause. Catching them early costs less.
Get a free estimate- Low or fluctuating water pressure
A failing pressure regulator, corroded pipe or a hidden leak.
- Banging, whistling or humming pipes
Water hammer, high pressure or a failing valve.
- Unusual water bills
A jump in use often means a leak.
- Slow drains and odors
Buildup in drains or a venting problem.
- Rusty or cloudy water
Corroding pipe or a water heater problem.
- Shutoff valves that won't turn
Seized valves can't stop water in an emergency.
Diagnosing Plumbing Problems
Many plumbing problems show up far from their cause. Low pressure upstairs can come from a failing regulator at the street; a sewer smell in a bathroom can be a dry trap or a cracked vent; a high water bill can be a toilet running silently or a leak under the slab. Good diagnosis saves money: we test before we replace parts, using pressure gauges, camera inspections and leak detection tools as needed.
Common Repairs
- Leaks at pipes, fittings, valves and supply lines.
- Shutoff valves that drip or won’t close.
- Pressure regulators and expansion tanks that have failed.
- Faucets, toilets and disposals; see faucets, toilets and garbage disposals.
- Water heaters; see water heater services.
- Drains and sewers; see drain and sewer cleaning.
Preventive Plumbing Maintenance
A yearly plumbing check catches the small problems that turn into big ones: a slow leak under a sink, a water heater full of sediment, a shutoff that’s seized, water pressure creeping above 80 psi. Our service plans include maintenance visits, priority scheduling and no inspection fee. Our plumbing maintenance tips cover what you can do between visits. For what you can do yourself between visits, see 15 habits that prevent plumbing problems.

- Parts. Common parts are on the truck; special orders may need a second visit.
- Timing. Nights, weekends and holidays are billed at emergency rates.
Most repairs are quoted as a fixed price before we start. Ranges are typical for San Jose and the South Bay and don't include current specials.

Great, reliable, and timely service at a reasonable price. I shopped around quite a bit before landing on CPI. Their rates were competitive, they responded promptly, and their plumber fixed a few issues quickly and without much fuss. I’ll definitely be calling them again the next time we have issues!

Prompt response, polite, knowledgeable. Good at explaining options and following through until solved.

CPI Service was sent to my home by my condominium association. They agreed to a very early morning appointment and the gentleman arrived exactly on time. He went through the problem very methodically to see where the problem was. Something that no one else could figure out was taken care of in half an hour. I would very definitely recommend them.

Plumbing Repair FAQs
What does the $59 inspection fee cover?
A licensed plumber's visit to diagnose the problem and give you a written price for the repair. It's waived for service plan members.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
By the job. Repairs are quoted as a fixed price before work begins, so you know the cost up front. Our prices are typically based on $150 to $250 an hour plus parts and drive time, and $200 to $300 an hour, with a minimum charge, for after-hours emergencies.
How often should plumbing be inspected?
A whole-home check every year or two catches small leaks, worn valves and high pressure early, especially in older homes. See our plumbing inspection guide.
What's included in plumbing maintenance?
Checking for leaks, testing pressure, exercising shutoffs, flushing the water heater, inspecting toilets, faucets and drains, and noting anything near the end of its life.
Can you fix it on the first visit?
Usually, yes. Our trucks carry common parts; special-order parts may need a second visit.
